United Way announces funding to help older adults access healthcare
Grant opportunity available in Westmoreland, Fayette and Southern Armstrong counties
Westmoreland County, Pa. (October 29, 2019) – United Way of Southwestern Pennsylvania announces a request for proposals (RFP) from organizations serving older adults, people living with disabilities and community members who may not be able to afford health care. Qualifying organizations must be a registered 501(c)(3), have a volunteer board of directors and be able to produce a recent 990. United Way will distribute $145,000 to six programs in Westmoreland, Fayette and Southern Armstrong counties.
“Access to quality healthcare, especially for older adults living throughout our region, can be a tremendous barrier,” said Jesse Sprajcar, United Way’s Community Impact Director, Westmoreland Region. “Whether they are facing difficulty finding transportation, cannot afford services or simply do not know what is available to them, programs supported through United Way Impact Grants can help individuals navigate care and receive the help they need to lead a healthier and fuller life.”
Starting November 1, 2019, organizations interested in applying for a United Way Impact Fund Grant can submit an online letter of intent at unitedway4u.org/non-profits. Letters of intent must be submitted no later than 4:00 pm on January 9, 2020.
Qualifying programs will be invited for a full RFP on February 28, 2020 and RFPs will be due by no later than 4:00 pm on March 26, 2020. A group of dedicated community volunteers will evaluate submissions and provide feedback throughout the process, alongside United Way staff. The grant awardees will be announced on June 30, 2020.
