A program designed in partnership of interfaith, non-profit and business communities to enhance the quality of life for persons 60 years and older who reside in Lower and Upper Burrell by providing companionship and volunteer assistance.
Over the next three years, United Way of Westmoreland County plans to develop five programs within the county. Currently, the Latrobe and Ligonier area has the oldest program with the Upper and Lower Burrell Area launching in December 2006.
The program helps the elderly and frail remain longer in their homes and thus avoid the expense of moving to a nursing home. sooner. For the price of covering two individuals in a nursing home for a year, Faith-in-Action can serve 200 individuals annually. |
