What Does Your Gift Mean

for a Family in Crisis?

Ask Mary...

For Mary and her daughter Ashley, the possibility of losing their home because of the loss of Mary’s job in the insurance business almost became a reality.  Mary had lost her job in 2007 and had to rely on savings and family to keep a roof over their heads. In 2008, her savings and resources ran out, and she was facing the loss of her Jeannette home.

Thanks to a bridge grant from the Mortgage Assistance Program, funded by United Way and administered by Westmoreland Community Action, Mary obtained two months of coverage for her mortgage while securing a new job with a medical insurance company.  She says,”Thanks to this program, I was able to keep my home while finding employment that got me back on track.”  The Mortgage Assistance Program provides two months of support for individuals and families in crisis, who have shown a solid record of past financial responsibility.
