What we care about

Success in Learning & Life strives to enrich academic and social development for all youth so they are ready for work and life.

Thousands of children are being prepared for success in kindergarten through United Way's School Readiness that funds a wide range of programs to orient new students, parents, early care providers, teachers and administrators to the needs and programs that help children arrive ready to learn. Through this effort, the United Way promotes not only early care and education, but also after-school programs, vision screenings, and helps to increase graduation rates in Westmoreland and Fayette counties.

This effort and others address the critical needs around Helping Children and Youth Succeed.

Don't know where to turn. 2-1-1 is here for you.

What is 2-1-1?

2-1-1 is the number to dial if you or someone you know does not know where to turn for help.

2-1-1 is currently accessible in Westmoreland, Fayette and Allegheny Counties with plans to expand access throughout the Southwest PA region, beginning with Armstrong and Butler Counties.

By dialing 2-1-1, callers will be connected with a human service information and referral specialist to help assess the human service programs that best fit the needs of the individual and/or family seeking help.

If you are unable to get connected by dialing 2-1-1 from your phone, 1-888-553-5778 can be used as an alternative.
