Dr. Mary Ann Gawelek is not only a donor and volunteer but also an advocate, demonstrating the meaning of LIVE UNITED.

"I advocate for community improvement everyday by supporting United Way's efforts to research the condition of women in the region, and by encouraging women to get directly involved in their community by serving on profit and not-for-profit boards.

I LIVE UNITED by advocating the issues most important to my United Way."

Free Books For Children in Jeannette

280 Children have been registered in the Imagination Library Program.

A unique opportunity is available for residents of Jeannette.   As a result of the combined efforts of United Way and Westmoreland Community Action, Imagination Library, a national program which promotes literacy in children, was initiated in 2009.

At no cost to parents, books will be sent directly to your home in your child's name.  The program will deliver a new age appropriate book monthly to your child from birth through age four or until you are no longer a resident of Jeannette.  Your only requirement is to read to your child--the most essential aspect of this program!

Ready to register?  Get in touch with United Way of Westmoreland County directly by phone today.  Call Jan Fox at 724-834-7170 x 32 to get your child started on their own library.

Or click on the train to register online instantly!

 What are my responsibilities?

   •   Child being registered must be a resident of Jeannette zip code 15644.

   •   Submit an official registration form completed by parent/guardian or sign up on-line.

   •   Notify United Way any time your address changes so you child will not miss a book.  (Books are only mailed to the address listed on the official registration form.)

   •   Read with your child.

Help spread the word -

If you know a preschool child in Jeannette who is not receiving books through the Imagination Library, give their parents the link to join or have them call for a brochure to register.  There is nothing to lose--the program is free.
